Big Thanks To Hello Again Vintage

I just wanna give a big thanks to Hello Again Vintage Store in Jersey City. I'm a big fan and a huge shopper at their store. Every month I have special events I have to attend and want to wear something special and I want to express who I am through my clothing. They have amazing and one of kind things there. I have a ball going in the store and never want to leave. Haha.

But other then that their also great friends of mine and have been big supporters of my work. Always interested in all the new things that I'm doing, wanting to be apart of projects and help. Their showing a few of my pieces in their store and everytime I walk in it brings a huge smile to my face. Having supporters is a huge deal for me it helps me to stay true to myself and when I paint I remember the people who really want to see me succeed in life. In life it's not so much about selling but how many hearts you touch or how your heart is touched. I'm grateful to be rich in this life.

So if you haven't saw Magic Window go check it out their extending the show for this reason. I will also post more details about the movie when I get more information. I'm so excited!

Art Is Big All The Time But Huge in Sept- October

Well as you already know I just finished having a show at White Star Bar in Jersey City. That was really nice just networking with people and I was only suppose to show for a few weeks there but it turned into a month. I was really happy to have my work up for others to see everyday and that particular bar was always busy so it received a lot of attention. So I thought that would be my last show for a while and I would take a break for a while and focus on work. And I did! I found a job teaching children art I started out teaching 2 classes and it quickly became 4. So I was very pleased with that. But I forgot that over the summer I had submitted my art to the VAP ( Victory Arts Project) they were doing a 545 artists studio tour and that would be apart of the 2009 Jersey City Artist Tour. So I got in!

They choose a piece called " Conversation" a black and white drip painting I had worked on spontaneously in my studio that winded up being one of the most talked about pieces. Last minute I remeasured and found that the piece was too small. I was in a panic and had told the gallery director. He told me not to worry to show that piece and 3-4 others. So I'm really happy!

Since it is only a walking tour I will post the art reception for others to attend. But will also be creating my own your for some family, friends and extra guest. I will have people meet me at a location in JC and we will do the walking tour in October and last stop will be my work at the VAP. So that should be really nice I went to the tour last year and had a really great time. Artists let you in their studios, some of the studios are very raw with paint everywhere and you can just see the reflection of what kind of person they are and interest. And some are in awesome brownstones I mean gorgeous! You have to see it to believe in. Haha not to mention my boyfriend loves it because of the wine and cheese they put out. But blocks and blocks of open studios and after parties for artists which are fun.

The other really great thing that I've stumbled upon is that I'm usually in Jersey City quite often because my boyfriend had a place there. My most favorite thing to do is go to this great vintage shop called " Hello Again Vintage". I always go in on Saturday or Sunday morning and have so much fun. They always have cute dresses and accessories for under $20! You can walk in with 5 dollars and come home with a vintage dress. So I love going in and shopping and I've made really good friends with the owners. I've been shopping there for a few months now and last weekend I was asked if I would interested in showing some of my art in there Art and Music Festival and Tour this weekend. One of the owners came to my studio and choose 6 paintings and was just really in awe by my work and just really made me feel good as an artist.

So I'd like to keep my blog short but had to fill any readers in of my very good luck. I'm just really happy to be blessed with all these great opportunities. I'm just in a point in my life where it's not about selling my art anymore. I'm happy to get it out there for people to see and keep creating because that's what makes me.

So who knew but Art is Big All the Time But Huge in September and October!
And there are all kinds of art and music tours going on in New York City right now just not Jersey City. Please be sure to check them out because it's not easy being an artist and being supportive of the arts is being supportive of the artist.

White Star Bar In July

Jaja June!

Well it's June and I'm in Jersey City! I've been asked to display a few paintings at The White Star Bar in July so I'm preparing for that. It's a really cool laid back place located on the corner of Brunswick and Pavonia in the Hamilton Park section of Downtown Jersey City. A down to earth bar with what I hear an awesome menu. I thought I was exhibiting a few pieces of my work to only find out I will filling up the whole place! So I will be display 20 pieces of my artwork old and new and I'm really excited. The exhibition will take place July 18th from 7-9pm and will end August 15th. Ive been spending alot of time hanging out in Jersey City on the weekends just trying out some of the new restaurants and they have an awesome art scene. I have drinks at a trendy restaurant/bar "LTM" and " The Merchant" and they always have different artists displayed on the walls. I've also took part in the artists studio tour last year and loved it! So I'm very pleased to show there and it's my first time showing my work alone. So I hope for success and of course more positive opportunities like this one. Hope to see ya there!

What's Happening In April -May 09

April has been a positive month for me so far. I've been doing some group shows in the city and meeting some really positive people. I also have been getting alot of good feedback about my art and think it's just the begining of something really good. I've been painting and doing shows for years but lately I've been thinking about how to take my art to a whole new level.

After my birthday vacation in Bermuda I've been wanting to work on publishing my own art book. My whole collection of artwork. It will be about 8-9 years of painting and I think it's time to put it down in art history. I have a feeling that after this summer I'll be working on some really huge projects, hopefully a book and painting a spankin new collection of work. I'm shooting for a solo show next year that's my goal. I'm turning 27 on the 5th of May and I think I'm ready to take the world by storm!
